Do you ever wish you just had a little more time? Or that you could get a little more sleep? Or that your life was just a little less stressful? I think we all have at some point!

But would you believe me if I told you that living an organized lifestyle could help you achieve all of those things, and more?!

Seriously! Organizing improves your life in a ton of different ways, from helping you save time to helping you save money and everything in between. I’ve put together a list of eight ways organizing improves your life, and I’m beyond excited to share it with you!

The reason I’m so passionate about telling you these things is because I’ve seen the impact an organized space has had on my own life, and I want you to experience it, too. So, without further ado…

#1 – Decreases stress

When your space is in order, you come home to a peaceful environment. You aren’t walking into a total mess after a long day at work, so your apartment, condo, house, etc. is truly your sanctuary – as it should be!

#2 – Increases joy

The key to living a more organized lifestyle, quite frankly, is owning less. When you declutter and let go of items that are ultimately weighing you down, you create a home filled only with things that serve you and your family. I mean, how nice does that sound?!

#3 – Boosts productivity

When everything has a home and you commit to always leading an item back to that home, your efficiency goes up dramatically. Your focus is increased, and you then free up time to do other tasks you might not have been able to accomplish otherwise.

#4 – Saves time

Be honest – have you ever been running late to something because you couldn’t find you wallet? Keys? Sunglasses? (You get the point.)

Hey, it’s happened to me, too. In college, I never knew where I put my keys until I came up with the ever-brilliant idea of just adding a Command hook to my bedroom wall where I’d hang them. Problem. Solved.

As you can see, that “home” we talked about in #3 applies here, too. When everything has a home, you save time you would’ve otherwise spent on looking for lost items.

#5 – Improves your mental health

Let’s be real – I’ve already mentioned a few ways organizing improves your mental health (i.e. decreases stress, increases joy) and I’ll probably mention a few more. But what I want to focus on is the idea of control. A lot of times, at least for me personally, the root of my mental health comes down to control. When I have control over a situation, I’m golden. When I don’t, the anxiety kicks in.

Living an organized lifestyle gives you a sense of control over your space, improving your mental health overall!

#6 – Betters your relationships

Chaos in the home – whether in the form of unmade beds, scattered mail, or something else – can put tension on a relationship and cause nitpicking among partners. When you both implement systems that you each stay responsible for, you bring a sense of calm to your environment, resulting in more kindness and patience.

#7 - Saves money

While organizing is certainly an investment up front, it saves you so much money in the long run. For starters, you’re no longer buying duplicates of items you already own because you know exactly how much you have of everything. Add to that the fact that you’re no longer making purchases that don’t serve you, and the money really does add up!

Fun fact about items that don’t serve you - a study revealed that women had an average of $550 worth of unworn clothing in their closets. I mean – an extra $550 sounds nice, right? Sounds like a plane ticket to me!

#8 – Fosters sleep

When the area around you isn’t cluttered, you eliminate distractions, letting your brain relax. A relaxed brain makes for better sleep. The older I get, the more I realize better sleep is hard to come by…so take it where you can get it!
